Official "Server is broken in some way!" Thread

That red spike actually is the overview-maker updating the tiles around 6.00,
that pink iowait spike at the top around 0.00 is the world backup.

For hourly backups to work we would need to use a system like Git or Mercurial to conserve diskspace, but they just trash the tf2 servers every hour so we dropped that idea pretty fast.

Ok, we could find a middle road and back up every 12 hours...

Server is down, and has been for a while.

It is not our fault that we keep having to roll back.

Recently the server has been crashed, causing the world file to be corrupted. This is the fault of the Minecraft server itself. We cannot do anything about it except live with it. It is a problem for Notch to deal with.

The rollbacks are the only thing keeping the server alive atm, if we didn't keep backups everything would be lost and we would be back to square one.

I know it's not your fault. And I'm not blaming anyone. Not Karl, not Blood, not you, not Hat, anyone. I'm just getting tired of working on something just to see it destroyed by the server... And I'm glad you at least have backups, the last server I used didn't. So, I'm grateful, I really am, just sick of it to be fair. Might e-mail notch and tell him to stop livestreaming, and actually work on the game?

Anyway, Since I've lost all feeling for Minecraft, Paint.net provided somewhere to vent.

so if you want that the server runs fine - blood or karl can disable it and then? griefers will be everwhere and we cant check it cuz blocklog doesnt work or chestlock.

srsly, if people cry about this rollback, the server should be turned off and let us wait for the bukkit release

I timed out. Server just froze. No zombies moved (they were already burning). No block placings registered.
Happened to log in again, but chunks were slooooooowlyyyyyy appearing.
