It would improve your performance considerably.

Gaming mice can increase performance by alot in some cases. Mostly it's not about what the mouse actually can do, (a ball-mouse will lower performance by alot of course, im talking about the different high-end mice there is), but how great it fits your hand and your mat.

Gaming mice are far more responsive and precise, that's the only reason why. My aim went up 200%.

As soon as you get a proper gaming mouse you won't know why you kept using that basic mouse for years.

Shape, size and weight is really personal preference. It's mainly how well it can "read" the surface it's going on, and through that can make more exact movements.

hmm I'll definitely look into one in that case. Mine is just a regular laser mouse from ibuypower. What would you guys recommend overall as a good price to performance mouse.

I use a MS Intellimouse 3.0... there's also the 1.1 or whatever it's called if you like symmetrical ones... if you want to go PRO GAMER then people always rave about logitech mice :p

Get a Razer Deathadder.

The mouse is just half of the package - a mouse records movement, the mat provides a surface to do it on. Don't think it stops at having a good mouse. A good mat will improve your aim tremendously. I recommend the Steelseries kind of mats, they're well priced and excellent.

I've got a Logitech G9 mouse (57 EU) + SteelSeries SteelPad QcK (10,50 EU)

I like this mouse a lot. You can customize this one a bit. You can make it either a little lighter or a little heavier. There are also some (sensitivity) profiles where you can switch between (special buttons on the mouse). The scroll is adjustable too (also a small button on the mouse). And there are some sweet extra buttons on it to use while gaming or surfing on the net.

* Connectivity Technology Wired
* Interface USB
* Movement Detection Technology Laser
* Movement Resolution 3200 dpi
* Performance 1000 reports per second
* Features Adjustable weight , Sensitivity adjustment , MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel , Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) feet)
* Included Accessories Carrying case , Extra covers (2 pcs.) , Adjustable weight cartridge

And the steelpad is pretty big so thats sweet.

"The SteelSeries QcK-line of mouse pads are made of high quality cloth material, providing a precise and consistent glide. All mouse pads feature a specially designed non-slip rubber base which prevents the pads from sliding, no matter what surface the mouse pad is placed on."

Can't go wrong with Steelseries. If you have extra money to spend, then Steelseries 9HD is probably the best mat out there. Prices vary, but it's more than QcK for sure.

I recently bought the Roccat Kone and Roccat Sense. See www.roccat.org.
The Kone has a gotten a million awards and it is a nice mouse, but quite expensive. (60 euros) the Sense (20 euros) is a nice mousemat, it is the thinnest around so that is very comfortable!
I am not sure if i'd recommend the Kone, it has great ergonomics, but i don't really have a feeling of great accuracy....
