New server settings ?!

Hi Aprilon community !

im playing on the server like 6 months now and i think it is getting worse every day.

1st of all the DB guys left cause of stupid mobbing by some guys then u gave the donators some bonuses like the 30 % charge thing and so on this wasnt realy nessesary but didnt kill the balance and u need some donators to support the server so i wasnt realy complaining about it.

But now the new server settings are total bullshit i think u cant play with ur friends and mates any longer cause of the teamscramble all the time. besides that u cant even join spectator if ur 10 mins AFK and why the hell are the classlimits gone ? ive played today and we hand >7< ENGIS in the team that only kills the balance cause there are only PL maps on the server.

Another point is the mapcycle, yes i know every1 was complaining about hoodoo but its not the maps fault its the fault of the fact that the server is with instant spawn so u cant win this map if the teams are equal in skill and players. So what about adding another map then ? i dont prefer a special 1 but 2 maps only is kinda boring if u play often.

the last thing i want to mention are the admins i dont play 24/7 cause i have to work but in the last month i didnt see 1 of them playing on the server. last week for expample there was a guy using speedhack und no1 could do anything about it that was really anoying. What about some new admins ?

This is not only QQing about everything but i like the server and i like playing with my mates there cause its fun so i dont want the server to turn in a bullshit one like all the saints servers with there imbalanced donator shit or something like that

All in all its just my opinion and i want to know what the other people think about it who are playing regulary on the server.

Actually this was implimented after they left

Its to stop people stacking the teams, games are no fun if all the good players from a clan are on the same team ;)

Hoodoo is an awful map regardless, i'm assuming once the issue with pipeline is resolved it will return to the cycle :)

If you feel there are no admins on during your time then feel free to apply as an admin :)

Karl is always looking at ways to make the server more fun and this involves making changes and seeing how player numbers are affected, granted i don't see the full picture but i trust that Karl doesn't want to ruin his server so have a little faith and see what changes stick :)

i know that karl (even if i only know him from the server playing a few times with him )wants to make the server better and not worse. I wasnt complaining about him i just wanted to give some feedback on the server changes last few months.

About the Donator thing: i just wanted to point out that there shouldnt be more bonuses for donators which have influence on the gameplay (like heavy can move faster while shooting and so on ) cause this will ruin the server when people feel like playing vs cheaters or they think they have to pay to beat them

But whats about the classlimits then ? 7 enigs ? or 8 demos ? thats just stupid spamming and camping around. This has nothing to do with the gameplay in my opinion.

cant get the sense here after DB left i didnt see more than 2 people of 1 clan on the server so where is the problem ? Playing with mates is more fun then playing with "randoms" and its also a TEAM game thats why its called TEAMfortress and not SOLOfortress if u have 2 or 3 (out of 16 most of the time) people from 1 clan or whatever playing together and the rest of the team is nooby u wont win vs an average team so i cant agree with u in this case.
I think the only ones who complain about so called "team stacking" are the noobs who cant play in a TEAM and support each other so thats the wrong game for them in my opinion they should better play a deathmatch shooter instead

i will look forward to the mapcycle thats no big deal i think but i wont apply as admin because i nerdrage too easy and i flame too much and thats not a good aditude as admin ;)

Ive played with you last month, so thats a lie. And for the admin activity, its good. But as on all servers there are times where there are not admins on the server. And Ive havent seen any posts on the ban forum, why didnt you report it there?

Another lie. DB left because they are playing on another server where evilevil is admin. There are DB people on the server from time to time.

I understand you. But I understand Karl also, people havent donated to much, if people aint donating the server will be put down. Maybe you have suggestion on what we can do to get money?

If you donate that problem is gone:) Can choose any team you want.

I'm open for setting adjustments, I don't know what makes things better yet. Feel free to visit http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=89136 to see documentation for gScramble (the plugin we use for balancing and scrambling).

We had to use a better balancing plugin as the other one sucked.

As for the "superclasses" part of the donator benefits, I have no plans on adding anything more. As I've stated before, we do not want to become a second saigns.de. :)

I thought removing the engineer class limit would be a good idea for the bug that leaves their sentries and teleports up when another takes someones place (stupid structure on the authors part). I can re-add this limit if the situation is that bad with engineers.

i will post more tommorow cause i have to go to a party now but 1 short thing for example let the people vote if they want a scramble or not and dont do it auto of 50% vote scrable then go if not dont ! let the players decide what they want to do. more tommorow .

I temporarily turned off the automatic scramble (this change isn't reflected to the posted gScramble configuration). I'm looking forward to your in-depth reply tomorrow, WuZ.

I also re-added the 3 engineer class limit.

Wuz are you aware that I'm an admin? I've played with you dozens of times over the past month :-(. Anyways the changes are new and are being played around with and fine tuned just stay tuned and everything will work out.

Also there are a lot of friendly and great people that play on the server you just have to look harder, just yesterday I met this awesome player scuro is a lot of fun to play with.

I do agree with you that the limit is messed up but I think karl just fixed it?

Also in terms of donator benefits I also agree another saigns de would be horrible, that server is ridiculous.

Overall I think if these changes are looked over and fine tuned it will lead to an improvement

i think "0.50" is better here so more scrambles if teams are unbalanced of u go under 50 % there would be to much scrambles i think and above only a few so 50 % is good i think

this could be 2 on PL maps cause if u have 3 spys in the small areas on the PL maps they are useless most of the time cause the other team will spycheck them to death case they are aware of them but thats just my personal opinion nothing important

i think a democap at 3 or 4 (better 4 i think cause the class is very often playd by new players cause u dont need skill to spam around and kill something; good expample for "easy to play but hard to master") would be good to stop the "nadespamwars" its annoying if u have 6 or 7 demos in the other team just spamming around and stickycamping everywhere (its no fun if u get spawnraped by demos for expample)
with a limit u would see more soldiers 4 example and the teams will be mixed up a bit better

respawn at 8 secs is perfect i think so the blues get a chance to push and the players can see more of goldrush not only stage 1 all the time ;) and 8 secs arent too much to get annoying in my opinion

I agree with everything you said, demoman limit should be 4 but I think the spy limit should be 3 not 2

i think the server works fine atm.

only the votecramble doesnt work dont know if this is intended but no prob 4 me just thought of the QQing ones ^^

A friend of mine was complaining the other day after he got autobalanced twice while still alive, In my opinion autobalance should wait for you to die before it switches you, while scramble should have the power to do it whenever which it does.

Unfortunately gScramble doesn't care if the player is alive or not.

Which is quite crap, isnt there a fix / other scrambler for that? Today I got switched from red to blue while I was killing as a madman, and again a little later from blue to red. Both while I was alive. It's crap.

Problem was the last balancer we had just didn't work at all it was worse :P

I think sm_scramblenow actually worked better, the autobalance is decent because it gets the job done but slays players that are alive to move them, and the scramble options are annoying because it takes too long to input all the info to scramble and it never seems to work that well.

A question in an old thread. What exactly makes the gscramble choose which person to scramble? Yesterday I was playing with a mate, I played for 45min, I was during this time, moved to the other team 3 times!(!!!11oneone) That's alot in my oppinion. Funny enough, it was always when my team was just about to win. (Of course that's when autoteambalance usually happens)
But why me all the time? I was neither top nor bottom most of the time. (I was hitting the top a few times though :3: ) But it just seemed like it was aiming for me all the time. Rather anoying. xD

I think it counts the kills/minute and decides from there.

And then it moves someone from the top, middle or bottom? (I would like to think that it picks the one from the top. :3: Then it would almost be an honor to be moved. Hah. )

Another question, why does the server say that there's 15 people on the server, when there's less than that?
