Oki, so, Marusia is now running a copy of the Badwater/Goldrush server. Anyone notice any improvements? Anything that I've missed/forgotten to copy over? You don't need to give any feedback right now, though I'd really appreciate it maybe within a few days after you've played on the server when it's full. :v

The Badwater/Goldrush server will soon be closed down very shortly, to forward/get the word out that we've moved to a different IP :)

Well if you could put the new IP in the steam Aprilon group it'd be a nice start :). I think that the new server is better than the old one. Though I must admit that I have seen the pings rise by 10-20 sometimes. I think we need to test this server for more than 1 day. I have not encountered any lagspikes yet, I think that the lagspikes were the most irritating thing on the old server..

Thanks for reminding me to announce the IP on the Steam group. I'll be doing it now and few times later on peak time.

FYI, or those running the GameMenu.res file, you don't need to change anything, payload.aprilon.net will point to the new server IP.

I don't think 10-20 is so bad, wasn't the old worse? :)

The 10 ping increase (not for me, btw) is nothing. 10 ping in TF2 makes no difference, this new server doesn't have constant lag, and no spikes, better hitreg too.

So when can enjoy the second TF2 server? :D

I just wanted to point out that the server is not 100% stable. For example, if the ping average on the server is +/- 40.. And occasionally everyone gets a +20 ping (it's the minimum we've seen so far, there might be a higher maximum) it's considered quite annoying. It's better than lagspikes but you get my point. If we pick a new server, it'd be best to pick a real good one instead of another crappy one due the fast decisions. It needs more testing :)

Please note that I am happy with the new server, I'm just not convinced yet.

This is our whole machine, and it's not a fast decision, we've used this company before.
I can't believe you imply this server sucks and we need to get another one that's better?

Haven't had the chance to try it out yet, only been updating the server-info in order to check for ping, which was fluctuating a bit at times, but seems overall good. :) Was around 40, +/- 10. But it once sprung to 100, then very quickly back again. No idea if it's noticable. I'm sure the other one did it aswell.

That always happens, don't worry about it.

Exactly my point. ;)

I think i've still been playing on the old server... Just using the Menu join that Cypherous made that allows me to get my reserved slot :D

I'll give the server a try a little later :)

The old server is closed and you can't join it. The menu that you downloaded will join the new server.

Cool cheers,

Feedback = Bad :( played for about 2hours, during that time my ping did not drop below 80 (usual is about 40) could have been just my crappy internet, but I think it might be the server.

Apart from what the digits said, did you experience lag?
Jul 13, 2010, 07:02 PM#14
Yes. And even just now people are on the server getting spikes of lag :(

This could be just a strange coincidence, this were the only 3 I can remember who were playing off the top of my head :/
Jul 13, 2010, 07:31 PM#17
What was the map being played?
Jul 13, 2010, 07:34 PM#18
Thunder Mountain.
Jul 13, 2010, 07:58 PM#19
Exactly what I thought. When playing on the old server, the only time the lag was really bad, was on Thunder Mountain. Every time the map came on, people started complaining about lag.
Might be worth checking into? The map IS very huge. :)
Hope people arn't confusing FPS-lag with Latency though. :)

Same. That would just be stupid.
