Hi, just wondering if anyone wants a voIP server to use for voice com and shizzle, and if they would use it or not. Also what kind of software you guys want to use (ventrilo, mumble/murmur, teamspeak and the likes).

Please note that we'll be hosting this server on my linux so ventrilo wouldn't be so good since it's restricted to 8 users. :(

I used to be part of a community on a game called Freelancer, the whole community revolved around a single game server. They also had a ventrilo server and it was used plenty by members of that community. I think that community was about the same size as Aprilon.

Mumble is the new black.

I want to try it later sometime (probably within this weekend).

I like Mumble. I set a server up on aprilon.net:64738 if you want to use it. I'll add more channels soon.

I'm getting a connection refused on that port.

I know, I deleted it because I had some issues connecting to it myself, it could've been my client but I'll reconfigure it later on friday.

I really don't see why we need one of these, we can just use the microphone feature in-game that was implanted for speaking by Valve.

I don't see why people are fascinated by thse VoIP programs. If we're talking about gaming here, all of what I've said already is valid.

If we're talking about basic chatting, then its still a bit crappy as its limited to 8 slots.

I agree with you.
