Let's get it on!

Didn't want to hijack your thingy Goose, but it didn't seem like much was going on anymore.

Offical TF2 match for the Aprilon community!

I propose the following:

Date: February 6th (sat) or 7th(sun)
Time: 20.00 (GMT +01:00)
Maps: PL GR+BW (just the normal maps that we play on the server) and maybe 1 oe 2 CP maps for the 'bomb frightened' among us ;-)
Server: Aprilon Dynasty PL server (passworded during match i hope)

2 Teams consisting of the following players and some invited people:

Goose (organizer)
Cypherous
Super
QB (invites: P0ppil0l)
Maniac
Ocfos88
S03
Wuz
Ultimate100
K3Yl3SS
Danthepie
Aya
Conor
Gionimo (invites: Cloud il Pajarin & MennoBanano
12 Oz Mouse
Moses

It might be a bit of a hassle to make 2 set teams, so i'm good with random teams.

Just tell me what you think and invite some friends! We need atleast 20 players in my opinion, so we need a couple more) Maybe evilevil and some of his comrades?

Anything i forgot? Anything i got wrong? Do we need an announcement on Steam?

Sounds sweet :) Though I'm up more for the leaders pick players in turns. Like kids do it with sports :) They can have a private chat or something to avoid the "omg fat people are last" thing. Random teams might make unfair teams.

I agree with QB, that teams would be more fair if team leaders took turn, chosing.
My problem is that I probably won't be able to attend very well this weekend, as I have my girlfriend over, and I still only have my laptop. :/
I won't have enough excess cash before the end of February. (Where I get paid once again)
So if it's this early, I will probably have to decline. Sorry. Would love to attend.

Show me the money ^^

I'm up for it just yell :P

We will do some more matches I think :quagmire:

Set teams is fine by me!
Now all we need is someone with authority that makes sure the server is available for us.

My Error is gone! I can play again :D
Feb 6, 2010, 10:09 PM#7
:O I probably can't make it but by all means play on without me. Gio, nominate someone else to be a leader.

I'm going lazertagging with some friends (lol)

I think the match was implicitly postponed ;-)

New date: Next Saturday @ 20.00?

Please, owners or admins, organise this match! it would be so kewl!

If this is happening we should play it in Highlander mode.

9v9, one player of each class per team.

Sounds cool :)

I haven't tried highlander mode yet, but i am willing to give that a shot! Can you play highlander mode with 18+ players? it would be a bad choice to play highlander mode if we have more than 18 players an the max is 18....
i just hope the majority of the maps will be PL!
Feb 7, 2010, 09:50 PM#12
When more than 18 players I suggest a maximum on classes of 2.

It's unfortunate that you guys didn't manage to go through with this within January because then I would have been able to provide a server for you.

As for using the public Badwater/Goldrush server for this 'event', I'm afraid I won't let you go through with that (sure you guys may join regularly and play together as usual but the server would not be passworded).

All is not lost, i have a HLDS install on my PC which you can more than use however there is a big but with this, i'm not sure if it can handle 18 people plus me running TF2 locally which is why i propose an offer, if i can find 17 others willing to help me stress test the server to see if it can handle that many players and there isn't any noticeable or harmful lag then i don't mind trying to host this event, there is however a fairly decent chance that my connection or PC might not handle running it with that many people, it did seem to do ok with the 40 odd sentries me and my brother spammed at suzu and her friend last night so who knows, like i said i would need to test it :)

Well I monitored the bandwidth usage of the Hyperion dedicated server and it pushed (upstream) around 1.2MB/s with two full TF2 servers. 2 MB/s with an additional event server. :P

(just for statistical purposes)

Well bandwidthwise should be fine but i more need to stress my PC its a 2 year old box and i'm not 100% sure it can handle that many players and TF2 but i'm up for giving it a shot if we can find enough people to test :)

Ah! Great! I am up for a test any time :). We can just ask some of our steamfriends to join for a quick test. I have an 100mbit connection here in Utrecht where i am from mon-thurs for university purposes but i use a laptop with a Intel Centrino Duo (T5250) so that would probably be a bottleneck. Unfortunately i am not there on saturdays and sundays.

Just slap me over steam, I'll help if i'm about ;)
Feb 19, 2010, 02:20 PM#19
Yeah, so let's test!

This Saturday or Sunday can we make this happen?
