Old game, I know. But still a bona fide classic.

Plot summary taken from IMDB:

Tidus is a star athlete in his city. He is famous, has all the ladies, and simply loves his life. However, one day, his city is attacked by a mysterious evil, and an old family friend shows up, initiating his quest. He is warped away to the world of Spira, where that evil, known as Sin, ravages the planet and its people with death and destruction. Sin is a punishment for the world's crimes, however, Tidus has been chosen to stop it. He meets up with Lady Yuna, a summoner (and daughter of a high summoner). Summoners can call the power of the fayth; aeons. Aeons are mighty and mystical creatures. Yuna quests for the Final Aeon: the one power that can slay Sin. Tidus joins as one of Yuna's many guardians, and travels with her to obtain the Final Aeon. However, the quest goes much deeper when high-ranking religious leaders betray the teachings of Yevon, the celestial overlord of Spira, and Yevon himself condones it. Tidus battles with his past and his true self while trying to sort his emotions and get back home to his world. Corruption of religion and the terror of Sin take the adventure to unimaginable heights full of friendship, war, and the power of true love.

I don't usually use the big words, but damn you! Now I want to complete it again.
That's usually how it goes anyhow.. I live my life untill I suddenly stumble upon a piece of music (Usually A thousand words), or a movie from it, then I have a sudden urge to spend 20 hours of my life in completing it again. :P And the urge usually wins. :)

I so love that game.
Darkmessenger, ever played FFX-2? And what are your thoughts on it?

Some more videos og awesomeness.

FFX-2, A song called "A 1000 words" sung on the Thunder plains.

FFX, Yuna doing a sending of the people that have died, to make their spirits pass on.

Yes I have, it's alright but it's not brilliant. Out of all the FF games the only ones I have little love for are 8, 10-2 and 11.

When I first found out that there would be a FFX-2, I was speechless and thrilled. I hoped to god that it would be a continuation of FFX story-wise, but sadly, this was not the case. :(
You had to hunt too much to get the actual story, that the game wouldn't be complete, if you didn't get the 100% which pretty much required a walkthrough. :(
I like the bits of story you got on the way, and I loved how it entwined the characters, I just don't like how the tried to do it.
Also the way they keep you guessing untill the end, if that guy was really Tidus, and then just spit in your face, that he never actually had anything to do with it. :( They mearly looked alike.

Still.. One of the things I enjoyed about it, was the improvements game and graphics wise. Their facial expressions in FFX was rather stiff, or non-existing, which they drasticly bettered in FFX-2.

Good job they made up for that dissapointment with XII. A lot of people hate it because it's gone a different direction. FF7 fanboys hate it because it's not a continuation/spin-off/remake of FF7. Most other FF fanboys hate it because it's not an apocalyptic love story. It's a refreshing change, I liked it being about a political struggle instead of a whiny teenage angst fuelled love story.

FFX was definitely one of the better Final Fantasy games I've played.

IMO:

FFX > FFIX > FFXI (MMO) > FFXII > FFVII

I've always despised FFVII.

FFXII was good in some areas, yeah, but terrible in others. IMO at least.
The two things I did not like the least was the way every item is still called the same as in all other FF universes, why not change it up?
Also, the story. It was deep and political, but as everything political, it's so slow. At times I was just staring at a 15min long cut-scene. This usually intrigues me, if it is interesting, but just watching a bunch of people, talking about the typical, "A invades B, B retaliates, War", simply made me cry.

Also.. It was simply too darn easy. The last 1/3 of the game, I did nothing but use the analog-stick when I was in combat. My characters was so efficient and my tactics (The auto-fight system), was so efficient, that I even completed the last boss in the game, without touching ANYTHING on my controller. Which is not how I want my games to be. :( I even had my main character move to the mobs on his own, so I wouldn't even have to touch the analog-stick in the open fields, as he would just rampage about.

Loved the setting in that game though, and I thought it had some nice characters.

It's actually harder with auto-fight switched off
Dec 14, 2009, 09:53 PM#10
Did that at times, wasn't too bad, but harder I guess.

I've only played FF3 and FF1, but never completed either. I should give this a shot I don't have a PS1 though but perhaps emulation.

It's a PS2 game. 8-)

Although, emulation is still an option, you can run it pretty well if you have a relatively new PC.

It's just a pain in the arse trying to get it to work properly...

FFX was a decent enough game but i found it way too easy, i fought the apparant hardest boss in the game and beat it without even breaking a sweat i was disappointed, X-2 well lets not even discuss that i refuse to admit it exists >.>

XII was an epic piece of work with great storyline awesome graphics a great gameplay style mixed in with fantastic music which is a mainstay of any FF game, i still say VII was the best and none of the others have ever come close to taking the number 1 away from that game in my eyes atleast, FFVIII wasn't that bad really although emotard gets annoying somewhere around the middle of disc 1 >.>

FFIX was an interesting change, i liked most of it really but that guy was way too happy most of the time, i'm really looking forward to seeing what XIII brings out of the PS3, Square-Enix are well known for pushing the older consoles to the limit i mean just look at XII that was some glorious work out of the PS2 hardware and with the PS3 having so much more to offer i'm hoping for some absolutely fantastic visuals although i fear that the audio is going to disapoint me given that the FF legend composer is not doing any of the audio for XIII and leona lewis is doing the main song so already i cry but i have faith the rest of the game will make up for it.

Yes FF fanboy rant over sorry >.<

Damn this thread.

I have enough games to complete, and now I've gone and started FFX all over again...

P.S.

PCSX2 has improved so much since the last time I used it.

ORLY, what point of the game?

ORLY, what point of the game?

I'm 6-7 hours in, just after the first blitzball thrashing. I've played the game twice before, but never completely finished it. I stopped right before the final battle with Sin - both times, although I can't remember why. :raise:

There's a setting on PCSX2 that lets me set the resolution that I want to render the game at, so I've got it on full screen 1024x1280 (a little under full HD), and it looks excellent. It looks better on an emulator than it would if I was playing it with a PS2. :sax:

I watched the ending on YouTube though, so I know what happens.

You can actually just put the PS2 game into your DVD drive on your computer, and it will read from it - however, I was having jittery sound issues, so I burned the .ISO file to disk, and am using that instead. It's 4.28GB. :P

Clever. I should do that with some of my games. :P

What do you do, controller wise? Using a gamepad? Or using the keys?

I just use the keyboard (WASD for d-pad, Arrow keys for Cross, Triangle, Square, Circle). There are plugins for game controllers and stuff though. You'd probably need a USB adapter or something.
