you start it, do the tutorials (well at least you should do them)
then you just join some server and play it like a normal fps :p

It takes some getting used to. My advice, do the tutorials and a fair bit of offline practice. If you have the patience/interest to do so, I recommend dicking around on the TF2 wiki as it can teach you a lot. If you don't know what you're doing, switch to a simpler class such as soldier, sniper, etc.

Hey guys! It's me, Elliott...
I've started playing TF2 as you can see in this post vvvvvv

But when I play, after like 10 minutes, I get this error : Secure connection failed, a connection to the VAC servers could not be made.
Please click here for Steam Support
Anyone knows how to fix this?

Quote for other forum on the internetz
Its Valve stuff. Try closing steam or rebooting ur PC. Or just wait xD
Its a Steam error
They suggest scanning for spyware, viruses etc
Checking your router and isp
Memtests etc
The easiest thing to do is log off and be patient.

got the same problem here, i fixed it tho by port forwarding the steam ports.
I still get it sometimes but only like every 2 hours or so.
The Ports: UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive (Game client traffic)
UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive (Typically Matchmaking and HLTV)
TCP 27014 to 27050 inclusive (Steam downloads)
UDP 4380

Its just steam having a fit over the new mass people logging in to play TF2 for free

Yeah, I've had it too, its just the item servers breaking under the huge load of new players. Should be working now/soon.
