Welcome readers!
The signups are now closed! These are the members of the team. All who have applied have been allowed to join the team, but some are in reserve, which means that they will be in the team, join our conversations, but will only play if someone from the main team can't participate, or because I feel like switching a little, which I might.
I have an idea about which classes everyone should play, but so far this is HIGHLY experimental, and are by NO MEANS final! So even though it says you have a class assigned, you should take it more like a guideline.
Also note that the main team could only have so many people, so I had to draw lots between a few people. So just because you're on the reserve team, doesn't have to be because I think you don't play well. Some people were also chosen over others due to what classes they want to play.
Team Roster:
Primary Team:
ManIAc - Medic/Engineer/Whatever
QB - Heavy/Pyro/Demo
Multilogic - Heavy
AcidWeb - Sniper
Cartmanjr - Scout
Cypherous - Soldier/Medic
Ofcos88 - Soldier/Spy
Reserve:
Goose - Something
Ironballs - Engineer
12 oz Mouse - Pyro
1337Wince - Something
Again.. Don't rely too much on the classes.. I don't even know what our group composition will be.
Our team: Aprilon Dynasty
Team Tag:
Team Captain: ManIAc (That would be me)
There's 3 divisions, where the two top ones are paid tournaments with cash prizes, but we arn't going for stuff like that. I am going to sign us up to the amateur-tournament, which has no cash prices, but it doesn't cost anything either. The winning team of the AT (Amateur-Tournament), will play Valve as the winning price. Valve said that there's going to be slaugther, but they didn't say which team who would the the slaughtered.
I am taking this very seriously, and if you're going to join, please have the same mind-set.
It's set to start 9th of August, but that could be subject to change.
There's a match each week, either Tuesday or Thursday, but again, might be subject to change.
Each team need at least 5 people on the rooster who is @ready, which means they have been accepted. The signups started 11th of July, and ends 8th og August at midnight, so we have lots of time.
You got untill 28th this month to sign this post, then I will finalize everything.
They are atm. discussing which weapons will be allowed in the matches, and which of the maps that will be played. Doesn't seem to be any class-restrictions as far as I could see.
It will be CP/KOTH/CTF maps, so if you don't know these maps, playing them might be a good idea.
Once I get the jist of who's going to be the main players on the team, I will arrange some practice PvP matches, so we can get some training against other newbies like us.
Class restrictions:
# 2 Soldiers
# 2 Snipers
# 2 Scouts
# 2 Pyros
# 2 Engineer
# 2 Heavy
# 2 Spy
# 1 Demoman
# 1 Medic
Requirements for you:
-Have at least 100 hours of TF2 played.
-Have Ventrilo and know how to use it.
I don't mind helping out if you don't know how to use it. If you for some reason can't use Ventrilo, (beyond the reason of you simply not wanting to configure it, or "don't like it"), please say so, so we can find an alternative. (When I have gathered the team that is)
-Have a working microphone. Being on Ventrilo without a mic would be rather pointless.
-HAVE TIME! Most important factor. I don't want to gather a team and arrange everything, just so you can stand us up at an important match. Of course I'm going to take 7+/- so we can have people on standby, but still.
-Have read THE RULES and have understood them.
Last note before I end this long-ass post. (which just shows how serious I am about this.
).
As for the people joining, I will be selecting people and it won't be random. Don't be afraid to sign up even though you arn't that well-known in the community, but bare in mind that I will probably take people I have played with, who I know the skill-level of. Because we don't just want to "have fun", we bloody want to win! :] Just kidding, of course we're just joining to get our feet wet, and try out the PvP-part of TF2. It's going to be hillarious!
When posting your "application", please write the following:
In-game name: (The name you are going by when playing TF2)
Total hours played in TF2: (Can be seen under your community page on Steam.)
Preferred Class to play: (We're probably not going with any heavies AFAIK, but I'm not too sure about class-composition, so feel free to sign up to any class. Feel free to put in two.)
Second priority class: (Which class would you play, if you can't be your first priority. Feel free to put in two.)
That is all! I look forward to hearing from you.
I can be reached on MSN on: [email protected]
Or you can add me on Steam.
Please keep this post ON TOPIC! Thank you.
-ManIAc

UPDATE:
They have decided upon maps and weapon restrictions:
Last night we had a successful Community Map/Weapon Meeting and the following map rotation was decided upon:
Preseason 1 - koth_ashville
Preseason 2 - cp_coldfront
Week 1 - cp_well
Week 2 - koth_viaduct
Week 3 - cp_prolane
Week 4 - cp_gullywash
Week 5 - cp_gravelpit
Week 6 - cp_granary
Week 7 - cp_badlands
Week 8 - cp_freight
All of the custom maps will be uploaded to the site prior to the week of their use. The version of cp_freight that is currently on the site has the appropriate layout but the wrong respawn timers. This will be fixed soon. cp_prolane, cp_gullywash, etc will be added as soon as possible.
The community decided to ban the Sandman, the Wrangler, and the Natascha. All other weapons will be allowed. Once the Polycount Pack is released, a news release will be posted detailing CEVO's response to the new weapons. The rules will be updated to reflect this decision prior to the start of the season.

It responds too slow.
If you mean the ingame VOIP WTF are you doing with it, works perfectly here and i run skype alongside TF2 because i'm normally talking to casey and i hear him on skype and TF2 and basically the same time, there is no lag.
Jul 17, 2010, 08:08 AM#23
Ventrilo and Mumble and maybe TS3 are the only options sorry. The rest are just not up to par xD
Jul 17, 2010, 08:20 AM#24
I vote for ventrilo. I use this program for many years. I don't have any complaints about this program I think.
Jul 17, 2010, 11:47 AM#25
Well i don't mind having vent or whatever running but i'll be talking over the built in voice because the way i play i don't have any spare keys to use as binds for vent etc so i'll be talking over the TF2 voice because i have that fitting in my bound area
Jul 17, 2010, 11:50 AM#26
It would be as easy as to bind Vent to the same key as you speak ingame. Then we can just mute you ingame.

TBH i still don't see why you need it, voice seems to work great for the game as it is really but whatever i guess its just a pain in the ass having to run an additional app to duplicate functionality in something else i'm already running when it already has acceptable voice

As previously mentioned, I can't use ingame chat.

As previously mentioned, I can't use ingame chat.So that's why it sucks. Also, it has poor sound quality compared to other Vent as an example. Well, it's not like you HAVE to be on skype.
I wasn't refering to skype i was referring to vent/TS, i personally don't see a real need for it and just because you have a fail mic isn't an excuse buy a real one
I use skype because i talk to my brother for hours on end then we happen to play TF2 sometimes
Jul 17, 2010, 01:09 PM#30
Well.. Technically it isn't the Mic's fault, it some crappy stuff with my computer. Microphone works just fine, but only with certain applications.
On another note, I think that using Ventrilo will have it's advantages, like you can talk while you're dead, as an example, and that we can communicate BEFORE the match starts, not only when we're connected to a server.

There is no excuse to not use Vent in competitive gameplay.
Unless you're Korean, and playing Guild Wars.

Unless the game in question has an acceptable voice system already implimented which source games do, sure its not the greatest quality in the world but you know it works.
Also TBH it prevents ghosting seeing as the speccing other players feature seems to be broken

... It's competetive play! You're supposed to take any chance you can get to help out your mates!
