Sounds more like a fad than people who actually dislike it.

It's always been a great deal on the internet to hate something, that there is nothing wrong with, and finally when someone likes what are supposed to be hated, they can flame him and do some nerdy giggles (No pun intended)

Well, there is actually reasoning behind hating comic sans.

1) Its not a proper font. Its joke letters. To be used sparingly.
2) Its HORRIBLY over used. From everything to wallpapers to IRL signs. Even though it is not a proper font.
3) Does not help readability. Its harder to read than proper fonts.
4) Its owned by Microsoft. Anyone wanting to use it has to pay Microsoft for rights to it.

Fair enough, I didn't think of that.

I come from a society where Jamza said, the font is HORRIBLY overused. It infested my secondary school and also the college I went to, how can you even get away with using it for signs and such in a college? Which in my eyes, is supposed to be a professional academic institution. You'd thought a place like that would condemn the use of it outright.

The kind of people that use Comic Sans in professional institutions/corporations gives you some idea as to how its management operates and proves that they have no idea of what makes a good font. Basically put, Comic Sans = Corportate Incompetence. To admit, as much I also hate Helvetica/Arial, it's a damn site easier to read than what Comic Sans is.

Arial, I can agree with that. Its just a Microsoft Helvetica-Wannabe.
But how can you hate Helvetica? Or at least its newer Helvetica Neue. Especially the Light and Ultra Light variants.

I love my Helvetica Neue.

Because it's boring. Verdana ftw. I love the curves on Verdana.

Obviously, in the picture above, Helvetica Neue and Helvetica Neue Ultra Light are the best.

Not mentioned in the image, but I think Georgia is best for large bodies of text.
