Karl wrote: As a test, I converted an old version of the phpbb3 database to SMF but it didn't work as I wanted to. The posts converted nicely, so did the forums and threads and shit, but some stuff such as my rights and shit weren't there so I found it hard to even use Not sure what I'm going to do with phpbb3. I couldn't get a javascript snippet working the other day, though I want to redesign the design. Yeah converting from PHPBB3 doesn't store group permissions so its actually easier to setup as a blank forum and when converting you have to apply some patches to get passwords and such to work >.< |

Look what I stumbled upon: http://mybboard.net/ I've tried the software, it's simple and looks nice. It may lack some features but it uses lovely ajax on a lot of stuff and may look nicer Also, their next version, which is MyBB 1.6 will have a lot of features that most popular boards have I guess. |

Karl, i beg of you, do NOT use MyBB. Trust me. I won't complain if you go with vB if you stay clear of MyBB |

I'll just make a super awesome template/style from scratch then, and update it along with future phpBB3 updates based on their changelogs. I'll do this shortly after mindfudge is done . Guess I'll do it file by file and make it inherit from prosilver until it's complete :O |

Quote: PHPBB3: The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: What use is a search function if you can't search for what you need I'm running the LifeTimeClan forum with SMF and wouldn't trade it for anything else. |

Too bad converting from SMF to phpBB3 is a bitch Think what I want to try to do with the phpBB3 template is to implement some more ajax |

Can I just add something I have only just found out. phpBB3 is currently the most secure forum software out at the moment. According to security firm Secuna, it currently has 0 unpatched flaws, whereas vB has 6, SMF has 7 and MyBB has 24 security holes.. |
