I bought a dell xps with an i7 870, and 8 GB ram whilst it was on a super dicount, but was left with a budget range GPU :/ I was only thinking about the 5770 as it was one of the build options, so I KNEW it was compatible with the pc. I would happily push out for something more expensive but dont want to run the risk of it not working with my pc.

both of the graphics card should work fine with your system.
but it depends of what you want :P if you like some extra stuff like CUDA and PhysX you should take the GTX570

benefits of the gtx 570:
- Physics
- Cuda

benefits of the 6970
- 2GB Vram

2GB may be not yet important but in the future it can be a big advantage for new games.
if you dont know which GPU is the right for you, you should read some benchmarks ;)

Are you sure they'll run with my Xps 8100? Dell are knobs, so I can't find out my motherboard specs or PSU so I wasnt too sure :S And I'm not sure which card too go for xD I must say though, this i7 870 is absolutely brilliant!

But yeah, Whether I can run it on my PSU aside (which I'm still unsure about :P) I think I may go for the 5770? If I can get the money though I may see if I can get the 6970 to run on it!

There you go. That piece of software will tell you everything you need to know about your computer. :)
It's called CPUZ. It's an awesome tool.
