Just got this put on my CPU..

Not noticed much change, but I think that the thermal paste probably takes it's time I guess. :)

It's a bloody big thing too! Pics of it inside coming soon :P I just can't be bothered to get the case and blabla.

Why?

You gonna overclock?

Re: engineer, put cooler here.

uh no, my stock cooler managed to get the cpu up to 85'C. That's why.

That's weird.

Stock coolers should always be enough with proper fitting and if you're not overclocking.

I have kinda got an old case.. Loads of gaming hardware inside an old case gets a bit cramped.
Should I get a new case then?

Unless you are buying Joblots of Dell computers, then they will catch fire running notepad :P

Getting a new PROPER case (not one of those 50$ ones), can reduce heat build-up by a whole lot.
If you have a cramped case, your airflow will be terrible. Also if you haven't adjusted your fans, they might be going the wrong way, if they are lazy at the factory.
You can really feel the difference, cooling wise, when you get a new chassis.

Well then, any recommendations?

Chassis wise? Uhm. I must admit, that I'm not that into which ones are great. I know that mine is awesome, generally the Antec Performance One series are great and silent, but I'm sure there's just as great alternatives out there. :)

If you are looking for one thats got good cooling like a gaming case, try looking for server cases instead. They have generally got just as good cooling but are cheaper.

Mine did that once, was a stock cooler but had been on nearly 2 years, when i took it off the thermal compound was more like rock, it actually pulled the CPU straight out of the socket when it was removed, was fun trying to pry the CPU free without causing any damage, been much better after a slightly bigger fan and new thermal compound :)

I have an idea for Jamza!

Make a Macfag translator!
