I ment that you should check the server address or IP for empty spaces, this tends to happen when you copy & paste an address into the address box. If you didn't touch the address box and it shows the address of the server you last connected to and still get that error (or "read error", "end of line", "connection reset") just try again in a few minutes or try restarting minecraft.
Reinstalling minecraft should not be necessary unless you applied a clientmod which broke the networking code.
well the only time I copy and pasted an IP was to check this other server we were all talkin about in the IRC, then when I TYPE mca.aprilon.net back into the address box, I get that message.. I mean it works fine on my laptop, not on my desktop though.

you know, I feel embarrassed now xD seriously, I've been on this server for quite sometime.. and.. you know I think its just because of me always telling new people to go to mca.aprilon.net to apply for whitelisting, which makes that what made me put that in the address box in the first place xD

Had the same problem a while ago, my ISP was blocking Minecraft port 25565, try the online test at http://minecraft.icannotconnect.com, if it says blocked then that's your problem too.
