Alternatives to Attachments

11 Jan 2010, 12:17

Since uploads to the forum in the form of Attachments is now limited due to space restrictions, we need a list of Alternatives to taking uploading files for the forum.

Dropbox
This is my personal favourite and if you have seen some of my posts it is also my file/image host of choice. It is a simple registration processes and then you download their client to your computer (Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and more). It creates a special dropbox folder on your computer, if you then copy a file to the dropbox folder, it gets uploaded to dropbox and it gives you a public link to share the file/image. Also for referring friends you get an extra 250MB (up to 3GB) so please click my link :D

Imageshack
This is generally the first stop for anyone needing a bog standard image host although in recent months they have added services like the ability to download torrents through their high speed servers.

Kimag.es
Kimag.es is an alternative image host which was formed out of the old kaffinated IRC groups. It works in a similar way to most image hosts but doesnt include nearly as many ads as the others.

They don't have any adverts because they have the freemium business model. There is the free service but also paid updgrades.

Old topic I know
but Dropbox seems interesting, but you're only limited to certain file sizes?

and I use ImageUrlHost
plain and simple to use
no need to make an account.

Theres only 3 things.

Dropbox

Everything else is either slower, or more work.
