I wanna be the guy is perhaps the hardest game ever made but it is also amazingly fun. It is basically like super mario and megaman mashed together to the extreme.

I actually beat that! Took a crazy load of work.. But hey!

I know of a harder game and the game in question I actually own. It's a Shinobi title on the ancient Sega Saturn console.



That's only the start. The game has an insane difficulty curve, only after the first few levels it starts upping the ante. The game goes from easy to insanely hard from the stage 4 boss onwards, and then goes from insanely hard to nigh-on impossible from stage 7 boss onwards. I've only come close to completing it once, many-many years ago and even that was on the easiest difficulty setting! The last level is a kamikaze dash down a nuclear launch chute, where you are susceptible to one hit deaths and the final boss is basically a bullet hell scenario. Not even cheat codes can save you. Hell, not even Norton can protect you!

haha I've played that game at a friends house. I still think IWBTG is harder though because ridiculous stuff kills you that doesn't make sense, like apples but then again, IWBTG can be beat with A LOT of hours because generally if you learn the patterns and have the skills its possible.

It's the same genre, different game. It's called manic shooter, or bullet hell. Apparently Touhou is even harder.

Although, by looking at games like this, people think it's harder than it really is. The hitbox of the player controlled ship isn't actually the entire ship, it's only about 1x1 pixel or something. Usually the cockpit is the only hitpoint. Else this would obviously be completely impossible.

Yeah I heard about that too, must require extreme precision and timing.
