Well i'm thinking of starting to make TF2 movies and such and if i could get some help finding an awesome 'free' program for video / sound editing i'd be pleased to make the video as a "breaktrough video"

Edit : forgot to mention that i also need a recording program too
Edit 2 : Nvm the first edit  dark gave me a copy of his fraps

You can record videos with Xfire for free - It's pretty much exactly like Fraps.

And for editing, head over to mininova.org and search for "Sony Vegas Pro".

I believe that it might be due to a non English Windows.

Additionally, I don't suggest using:

Windows Movie Maker - Fail on so many levels.
Abobe Premiere - Doesn't open regular mpeg video files. :/

It opens most MPEG's with the exception of some lesser known MPEG codecs.

Dont forget Audacity.

Aye Audacity is a great program aswell. I've personally never really used it, but what I've seen of it is amazing :)

I use xfire, I'm not sure if my settings aren't tweaked properly but the files are large and the quality is low.

Yep it is indeed amazing and quite a powerful program. A suitable analogy would be a poor man's audio editor to what Adobe pulls out of their ass.

Audacity is good for audio as others have mentioned. And I'd recommend Sony Vegas, personally I've started using camtasia studio HD so I can record in 1080p and upload it to youtube (downscales to 720p) but still looks great. Files are pretty large though but I'll compress them down when I'm done. Also a 2tb worth of storage space comes in handy

I have used Sony Vegas 5 through 9 in all my years of video-editting, so I can really vouch for it. :) Atm I have Sony Vegas 9 Pro, which I adore. It's really great.
