Since a lot of the time I see many people using Expression 2 as a means to torment/aggro other players, I think it's high time that it was made strictly a VIP tool only.

^ This.

What appears to have happened is that a guy on the server has tricked Roy into spawning a dupe or an E2 which secretly gave them access to Roy's admin commands.

^ This.

Also, this isn't first time the server's been fuxxed over because of a malicious E2 script. Is it?

few fucktards...

Those few fucktards forced the server to terminate.

It wasn't a malicious E2 script. It was an Exploit. I wrote that before I had received the full picture and was making assumptions.

Even if E2 was disabled for normal players, admins would still have it so even if it was a malicious E2 script, disabling it for normal players would not have prevented it. They rely on being spawned unknowingly by admins.

99% of the E2 scripts I see are fine. Only 1% are debatable (like BoS), I have only ever seen a truly malicious E2 once. Disabling them because of the 1% is ridiculous.

Those few fucktards forced the server to terminate.

It happens. Its a sad fact of computing. Nothing is 100% safe and secure. When it happens all you can do is learn from it, patch the vulnerability and move on. No point making knee-jerk reactions like disabling E2 entirely.

I don't know what to patch to prevent this, got any ideas?

It wasn't an E2 so no go disabling E2. Its very useful.

Its a vulnerability in Gmod. We have to wait for Garry to fix it.

How do you know this? Got a link to a Facepunch thread or something?

No, but I can tell.

From the events that happened, I can rule out a malicious E2 script. The only logical explanation from what I can gather is that there is a vulnerability that is currently unpatched. If you can look at the logs of when it happened, you should send them to Garry and say there is possibly a vulnerability there.

Which events are you speaking of (just to clarify)?
When did it happen. What should I look for in the logs? What logs? Console or ULX logs?

The events of yesterday, when a player managed to kick/ban loads of players and give himself super-admin.

I don't know exact times since I wasn't there so I cannot tell you where to look in the Console Logs. Ask Dave or Royalz for exact times.

Oh, right, that is indeed not an E2 issue. However, the changing the textures stuff seems to be an E2 issue. Somehow with E2 you can change the texture's rgb/alpha
